About the SEBS/NJAES Excellence Awards
“Our strengths as a school and experiment station are made possible through the dedication and impactful work of our faculty and staff. The Excellence Award program is our opportunity to acknowledge individuals and teams who have gone above and beyond an already high bar of expectation. These signature awards meet carefully-considered criteria, including creativity, original work and ideas, innovation, effectiveness, integrity, leadership, impact, community engagement, and excellence.”
About the Rutgers Agrivoltaics Program
The Rutgers Agrivoltaics Program (RAP) was formed during the Summer of 2020 in response to growing interest in the potential agronomic, economic, and clean energy benefits of agrivoltaics capable of preserving farmland and farm viability while simultaneously contributing to the State’s clean energy goals. The RAP team consists of 24 members, integrating key areas of expertise to help answer important questions about agrivoltaics technology applications. RAP operates R&D systems at three NJAES research farms and we are nearing the end of our third growing season. RAP is engaged in education, outreach efforts, training NJ farmers and stakeholders, and assisting the Board of Public Utilities (BPU) with the design and implementation of the Dual-Use Solar Energy Pilot Program. RAP’s efforts have become a model for agrivoltaic developments across the United States, demonstrating broad impact on agrivoltaic R&D efforts, and winning the 2025 American Agrivoltaics Solar Farm of the Year Award.
